So today was amazing we went horseback riding and swam at a waterfall. Sadly my outfit was hideous and there are photos of it, but it is stinking hot here and we walk everywhere so what’s a gal to do? I’m going to try to work on my attire a bit more but right now its about comfort until I adjust to humidity. Fortunately my hair looks great but my skin is freaking out. But it’s nice to be surrounded by paradise. I was told Jarabacoa means something along the lines of the Blessed by God (I think) and that would totally make sense, because here it looks like paradise. We’ve seen so many beautiful things and the climate is quite comfortable generally. The people are awesome. There are so many “need-greaters” here. I just love it. I could see living here but then again it is quite a different life. However, I think the brothers and sisters have made us extremely comfortable here. We are spoiled with lots of loving people. We have always had plenty to do and eat. The block we are living on consists of almost all witnesses around us. It’s fantastic. And the fruit is amazing here along with the wildlife. I need to take more pictures though. I think the reason I haven’t really though is because I’m trying to be in the moment and not to have any negativity towards anything, especially my limitations lately. But so far so good. tomorrow should be an easy day. We are going to go shopping in town and try the passionfruit margaritas and mojitos here. And a sister is coming by with lunch for us. She is making the national dish which is a soup. I know its going to be amazing based on the food we’ve already eaten. Hopefully we can pick up some Presidente to go with it though. I’m so tired though of walking everywhere espeically cause I hurt my right leg and my left foot (said limitations) but I’m gonna hopefully deal with it well. Making lemonade out of lemons!!! I miss home, but I’m trying to just stay busy and not talk about family that much. Today Ellen gave us a lesson on conjugation outside of present tense with verbs. So hopefully my Spanish will have a few more sophisticated sentences. Fortunately its already improving. I was able to converse with a local and I’ve been think in Spanish which means I am winning the battle hahaha!! Glad that Spanish is like riding a bicycle to me because it is just gradually coming back. Now if only I can get more conversational and have more flexible word choices. Thank goodness I’ve got quite a few more days to go. Sending much love out to the interwebz and hoping I stay bite free today tomorrow and always while I”m here.
Paz.
